Harvey Park Mid-Century Modern Addition

Harvey Park Existing Front-full color.jpg

Check out one of our latest projects in Harvey Park, a small neighborhood in Southwest Denver, that includes 170 modest mid-century modern homes, mostly designed by Cliff May. This home is one of the best in the neighborhood, not a Cliff May original, but a 1950’s copy, most likely built by Burns Construction. At 850 SF, the current footprint includes 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room and kitchen. The owners are interested in expanding the home by 400 SF to include a dining area, sitting area, guest bath, laundry closet, and will open up the kitchen for more efficient use of space and better flow. We are also opening up the home to the outside patios in order to create more of an indoor/outdoor experience. These clients are vintage mcm-enthusiasts, so a concerted effort will be made to have the addition blend in with the existing home, and will not be visible from the front.

Courtyard

The addition extends beyond the original house to create a seasonal courtyard for a more protected area. A new vertical slot window has been added to the existing house for a visual connection to this courtyard.
