Christmas presents have come early this year - not sure if the delivery guys for windows & doors have ever seen two people so excited to unwrap what they deliver to job sites every day.

Our Hurd windows and doors showed up this past week and are looking very good as they go in.  Anodized aluminum comes in a lot of different variations, but what Hurd provides has a beautiful tonality to it.  It doesn't have the look of standard commercial/industrial storefront that you see all over town, but a refined richness that gives the doors and windows a high quality feel.  Come check it out in real life when we have a party to celebrate the completion of the project.

A couple of products we are excited about and want to highlight are light fixtures from Schoolhouse Electric Company and a new kind of high efficiency water heater by AO Smith.

Schoolhouse is located in Portland OR & it doesn't just carry lighting fixtures. They carry furniture, bed & bath accessories, cookware, linens and more -- mostly scandinavian and modern industrial styles, but really plenty of other styles are available too.  I covet numerous items on their website.  For this project we are using several of their light fixtures. We'll be using their Alabax fixtures for out on the patio and the Factory Lights for the bedrooms.  Although not exactly mid-century, they will hopefully add an element of interest.

As for whether to go with a standard water tank or tankless system, we compromised in order to get the best of both worlds.  The AO Smith Next Hybrid water heater has a small holding tank and uses a patented system to produce unlimited hot water on demand.  Looking forward to seeing how well this product operates!
