Krisana Park Art Studios Addition

When our clients, both creatives, bought this mid-century home in Denver’s Krisana Park, they knew they’d eventually need more space to support both daily living and creative work. The existing layout included a small garage and several awkward, unconditioned areas that provided little usable space for their needs.
We explored several design options, including a few with attached garages, before settling on a solution that prioritized natural light, flexibility, and a more seamless connection to the backyard. The new addition includes two bright studios and a laundry room. It’s scaled and detailed to feel like it’s always been part of the original house, echoing the roof lines, proportions, and materials.
A private patio is tucked between the new and existing structures, creating a quiet, protected outdoor space. A future carport is also in the works, designed to complement the house while creating a more open and welcoming front entry.
The design is complete, and construction is expected to begin in the near future.
Energy+ Sustainability: Reuse most of the existing structure, including the T&G roof and wood flooring. New energy-efficient windows and doors, LED lighting, water-saving fixtures, a tankless water heater, and a new high-efficiency heat pump system.
